ROOM OF TEMPORARY EXHIBITIONS

The temporary exhibition hall of the Pedro de Osma Museum was built in 1996, with a very simple character and with architecture of lines very defined that don’t alter the unity of the main buildings of the Museum. It has an exhibition area of 215 square meters (19 m x 9.20 m).

For the exhibition of the paintings a modular system of panels has been added. They come from the ceiling and allow themselves to change locations, this way one achieves a great flexibility for the montage.

The panels have a width of 1.20 meters and are constituted by transparent white fabric, this allows a singular form that permits the valorization of the paintings that are shown.

The museum has taken special care as to the treatment of the artificial illumination, which means the installation of a rail system. The equipment of the room is complemented by the air conditioning system that creates the special environment needed for this kind of hall (22º Celsius of temperature and 50% of relative humidity, for the paintings).

From its beginnings the Temporary Exhibition hall has had numerous exhibitions with national and international artists. In the occasion of its inauguration an exhibition of Great Masters of the Latin American Art was organized. It showed artists such as: Fernando Botero (Colombia), Claudio Bravo (Chile), Víctor Chab (Argentina), José Luís Cuevas (México), Pedro Figari (Uruguay), Wilfredo Lam (Cuba), Roberto Matta (Chile), Armando Morales (Nicaragua), Diego Rivera (México), among others.

The creative expression of artists born beyond the borders of Peru is constant. There has been exhibitions coming from Morocco, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, USA and, very recently Swiss.

One of our most important exhibitions presented on July through September 2004 was "Five Centuries of Spanish Painting", collection owned by the BBVA.

There are also exhibitions from local artists, consecrated artists with international recognition, new generations of painters and Peruvian artists who are living in foreign countries.
