The Collection of sculptures and carvings is very privileged. With exception of those that can be appreciated in temples and viceregal convents, the Museum Pedro de Osma showcases an awesome collection.
The sculptures are made in wood, Huamanga stone, glued fabric and maguey (Peruvian wood). There are also European pieces of ivory. Finished in fine polychrome and ornamental details of gold; made by anonymous artists. Many of the are of easy attribution, they denote the first influences of Sevillian Sculpture and the development of a local taste.
They are two altars of particular interest that came from an old private oratory. There also altarpieces and a Birth Trunk (an piece used for the evangelization of the infidels).
Columns, capitals, closings of altar, tabernacles, marks, among other carvings are also of particular interest. |
