Mary, Divine Materiality proposes a journey through the figure of the Virgin Mary through Peruvian viceregal art, exploring the relationship between faith, history, and materiality as a means through which the sacred takes shape. 

The exhibition brings together more than 50 works, including 19 unpublished pieces restored especially for this show, as well as valuable relics of great historical significance. Organized into eight thematic stations, it invites visitors to discover how the Marian cult manifested itself not only through painting and sculpture, but also through objects, techniques, sounds, lighting effects, and other elements that enriched the devotional experience during the viceregal period.

Its exhibition design recreates the space of the artistic workshop by highlighting the creative process behind each work and showcasing the mastery of viceregal artists and artisans. Among the most outstanding pieces is the mantle and scapular of the Virgin of the Gate of Otuzco, exhibited for the first time in Lima, alongside a collection of works that reveal the dialogue between spirituality, heritage, and the artistic wealth of viceregal Peru.

Through this exhibition, the Pedro de Osma Museum invites visitors to rediscover viceregal art as an expression where matter, technique, and faith converge to give shape to one of the most important devotional traditions in Hispanic America.
